Brothers Finch cruises onto the scene with a sound that is destined to have your hand surfing in the wind and your speakers blasting their pounding and remarkable contemporary country. The synergy of Dustin’s powerful, smooth vocals with Brandon’s gritty, rockin’-alternative edge has produced a duo that is destined to find a route to today’s charts. Around Music City, Brothers Finch has found the attention of renowned industry vocal coach Buzzy Orange (Carrie Underwood, Amy Grant, Faith Hill and Lorrie Morgan). “These guys have beautiful harmonies together!” says Buzzy. Debi Champion, recognized for her prominent history in finding and developing young songwriters at her Nashville songwriter nights, was also impressed by their songwriting and performance skills. “Dustin and Brandon deliver great performances at my shows. They have a home with me anytime.”
The recent buzz from these CMT Music City Madness and Can You Duet? candidates traces its roots to their early childhood in Fredericktown, Missouri, a rural community south of St. Louis. “I recognized that my brother and I had a musical connection as young kids when we started singing along to jingles and keeping rhythm on surfaces from Legos to buckets with whatever improv stick I could find,” says bassist/vocalist Brandon Finch. Dustin Finch, lead guitar and vocalist, continues saying, “We were thirteen when our parents took us to a pawn shop close to home to buy our first instruments. I got the guitar and Brandon got the drums.” A passion for music lead these youthful twins to pursue programs examining recording industry history, theory, studio techniques and business strategies including completing a Bachelor in Entertainment Business and an Associates in Recording Arts from Orlando’s premiere Full Sail University. During their high school and college years, these brothers perused through a variety of formats joining punk, alternative and southern rock groups before paving their own path on the contemporary country scene.
Their experiences across a wide spectrum of music makes for a unique combination of energy filled melodies and vulnerable lyrics with influences as diverse as Alan Jackson, Maroon 5, Josh Turner, Bob Marley, Brad Paisley, Dave Matthews, Johnny Cash, Skillet and Giant. When they don’t have instruments strapped to their backs, these singer/songwriters turn into MacGyver tinkering with any electronic device that they can get their hands on. In addition, any hobbies that place them outside will be attempted at least once, but baseball is the official Brothers Finch past time as they fanatically follow the St. Louis Cardinals.
For this act reared by a stay at home mother and a father who owned and operated his own construction company, a homerun in the music industry would sail Brothers Finch music straight to country radio with the end goal of creating a continuous impact that leads to the Country Music Hall of Fame. “Our dreams may be big, but our actions will be bigger,” says Brandon. Guaranteed to be the hardest working and most humble members on their project, they never turn from this industry’s hurdles and persistently push through the endless crowd of hopefuls in Nashville. Seeing first hand the impact music has on ones life, they continue to reach out to the community by supporting numerous charities including Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Nashville Ronald McDonald House. “It’s about moving people with our music and writing songs that relate to everyone,” explains Dustin. “There is a number one song in every pencil; sometimes it’s just hard to shake it out.”
